Hey everyone, I wanted to share a bit about where this piece, ‘Heartbreak Warfare,’ came from. Honestly, it’s pretty personal. I think we’ve all been through those times when love feels more like a battlefield, right? That’s what I was trying to capture with the heart shaped like a grenade. It’s that feeling of something so precious also having the potential to explode and cause pain.

The way the gold paint is dripping... that’s how loss can feel, like something valuable just slowly draining away. And the caged heart? That’s that trapped feeling, like you’re stuck with the pain and can’t move forward.

Creating this was kind of a way for me to process some of that stuff, and I really hope it speaks to anyone else who’s been through something similar. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

The scent of damp stone and acrylic paint still clings to my memory, a phantom fragrance from those sun-drenched days in the French countryside. My fingers twitch, itching to hold a paintbrush, to capture the way the light danced across the ancient walls of the art residency. Oh, how I miss it.

It wasn’t just the picturesque setting, the rolling hills dotted with daisy fields, or the charming quiet village. It was the time. The glorious, uninterrupted time to create. Time that stretched out like a canvas, waiting to be filled with color and texture.

I miss the conversations, the late-night critiques, the shared meals where artists from all corners of the globe exchanged ideas and inspirations. I miss the quiet mornings, the sound of birdsong mingling with the soft scratch of pencils on paper. I miss the feeling of being completely immersed in my craft, free from the distractions of everyday life.

France, you painted a masterpiece on my soul. The colors of creativity were brighter there, the inspiration flowed like the Rhône. I find myself constantly revisiting those moments, those stolen hours of pure artistic bliss. A part of me still lingers in that sunlit studio, surrounded by the ghosts of masterpieces past and the promise of those yet to come. I long to return, to breathe in that creative air once more, and to let the magic of the French countryside ignite my imagination again.

Artist Residency - Day Deux: it’s so much fun exploring the most charming Chateau on the eastern side of France💜 .. Got all settled into my studio today and began working out some ideas in some sketches.. learned a lot about the history of Chateau Orquevaux and village 🏘… Vibing with artists from all over the world is EVERYTHING!! The energy is contagious here and I can’t wait to see what I come up with 🎨🖌
