About the Artist

Via Kalay is an artist & photographer currently based out of Huntington Beach, California. Born in Cairo, Egypt, she migrated with her family to Los Angeles, California at a young age. This experience helped foster her desire for travel and sparked her curiosity to learn about other cultures.  Via draws creative inspiration from her Egyptian heritage, the simplistic yet detailed elements in nature, admiration of the female figure and the ever-complex conditions of the human heart. 

 

Seeking a creative way to release anxiety and conquer depression, she discovered that through art & photography she could give her emotions expression with a visual medium.

 

As an artist, Via Kalay works with acrylic paint on canvas frequently using textures and vibrant color palette combinations, often incorporating metallic & gold foil accents.  Abstract painting has allowed her to overcome anxiety by releasing control and allowing the paint to direct it’s fate. 

 

Through her camera lens, she strives to share her unique view of the world. Focusing on the hidden beauty in nature and the often missed details, revealing the unique personalities of her subjects.

 

Via Kalay hopes to transcend her love of nature and appreciation of other cultures by taking her audience on a journey through her art, celebrating our diversities as well as encouraging the preservation of our breathtakingly beautiful but crumbling world.
